I believe that every person, once in their life should embark on an adventure, one that pits them against the elements and against their own strength. I also happen to believe that every person should do as much as they can to support wonderful charities that give so much to their communities. With this in mind, I decided to begin planning my grand adventure across the country, from my home in western Colorado to eastern Maine taking no interstate highways, and with no support crew to assist me if things begin to get rough. The idea is me, by myself, just me and my bicycle for roughly 2,600 miles. Over the period of one month from May 14th to June 14th, 2012 I will be riding at least a century per day, for at least 6 days per week. I will not be undertaking this simply for myself, but also to help fund a local bicycle commuter incentive program.
If you would like to donate, click on the support menu and either print out and send in the donation form or fill out the online form. Further information about donations will be explained in the support section.
The planning section contains a blog, updated as often as I would like. It will contain not only planning information, but will be a complete documentation of my training, and what it takes to get ready for this kind expedition. It is also where you will find the transAMERICANcycling podcasts as well as updates from my Twitter account, when I will be working out and how long my goal distance is.
The tracking is provided by instamapper.com’s GPS Tracker iPhone application. I will be using my iPhone as a training device and as an informative device for anyone who wishes to follow me. In addition, anyone who would like to join me for my ride, either in its entirety or for a quick leg of the tour, please don’t hesitate, I will be posting waypoints and times that I expect to be in a specific area and I would love to meet you out on the road. If you would like to help me train, or even tag along with me as I ride through this beautiful country you are all welcome to join me and ride into better health. Thank you and please stick around for further updates.
